Feather Drive is a Mac app that puts Google Drive and Dropbox in Finder and streams files instead of downloading them. Apps fetch only the parts they read, so a big video starts in about a second and takes no space on the Mac. Optional end-to-end encryption keeps files private.

Feather Drive is a Mac app that adds Google Drive and Dropbox to Finder as a drive and streams files on demand instead of syncing them. Cloud desktop apps usually download a whole file before it opens, which fills small Mac SSDs and makes large videos wait. Feather Drive uses the file system extensions Apple added in macOS 26 to fetch only the byte ranges an app reads, so a 3 GB video starts playing in about a second and files take zero bytes on disk. New files upload in the background and resume after sleep or a lost connection. Files travel directly between the Mac and the user's own Google Drive or Dropbox; no Feather Drive server receives them. Optional end-to-end encryption uses AES-256-GCM with keys in the Mac Keychain. Feather Drive is built by Sumit Paul, an independent developer in India, and comes with a free three-day trial.
